What I do
Build
I lead engineering teams that ship platforms people depend on — enterprise systems, conversational agents, job marketplaces, health analytics. Twenty years of it, from mobile software at Motorola and Nokia to AI at PLUS Malaysia and Hiredly.
Train
I run HRD Corp accredited AI training for corporates, government agencies and universities — nine programmes since 2018, from AI for Leaders to building your own 24/7 AI agent. Participants bring a real task from their own job and leave having done it with AI in the room.
Advise
I sit with founders, executives and boards on the technology decisions that are expensive to reverse: what to build, what to buy, when a model is the answer and when it is a distraction. Including on the AI Advisory Committee of Malaysia's National AI Office.

Chong Theng Hui — ThengHui, or 張騰輝 — is a Malaysian technologist who has spent more than twenty years building software and the teams that build it, at Motorola, Nokia, Amdocs, PLUS Malaysia and Hiredly. He works from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as a Chief Technology & AI Officer, an HRD Corp accredited AI trainer, and a mentor to startups.
What does he do now?
Three things that feed each other: as Chief Technology & AI Officer at altSHIFT he helps enterprises put AI into their actual workflows, he trains leaders across Southeast Asia on the practical use of AI, and he advises companies and boards on technology decisions they only get to make once. He has also served on the AI Advisory Committee of Malaysia's National AI Office (NAIO).
What has he built?
Platforms in telecommunications, the public sector, recruitment, retail, pharmacy and health tech — including a bilingual conversational AI agent that handles routine enquiries for PLUS Malaysia, the country's largest highway operator, and a health analytics platform that turns routine screening into preventive insight.
Where has he spoken and taught?
Corporate AI training rooms, government agencies, technology conferences and university lecture halls across Southeast Asia, under HRD Corp claimable programmes (TTT/22718). Organisations trained include Touch 'n Go, PLUS Malaysia, TERAS Teknologi, Hiredly, Green Packet, Asian Pac Holdings and SIS Integrated.
What is he like away from work?
